Siliguri, for some it is the main commercial city of North Bengal and for some its importance comes from its strategic placement near international & state borders. The town of Siliguri is an important transportation, trading & educational hub which is situated on the banks of the river Mahananda, making it the trade hub & nerve centre for the whole region. The Geo strategic importance of the town Siliguri cannot be stressed enough. It connects three international borders (Bangladesh, China, and Nepal). It was thus imperative, that a centre for the improvement of the Nepali / Gorkha community be started with the following objectives :
